“LOCAL RULE” have been put in place specifically for the Shaw Golf Club

SHAW GOLF LOCAL RULE - OUT OF BOUNDS OR LOST BALL You have two options if you believe your ball may be lost or out of bounds. 1. For a two-stroke penalty you may drop your ball in-bounds using as a reference point, the spot where you estimate your ball went out of bounds or was lost. Using this rule, if it was your drive, you are hitting 4. You may drop your ball anywhere between the OB fence or stake and up to two club lengths into the fairway. You are not required to take the ball two club lengths into the fairway. 2. Your second option is to hit a ball “provisionally” under stroke and distance i.e. you are hitting 3 off the tee (See Rule 18). If you find the original ball within 3 minutes, the provisional ball must be abandoned. If the original ball is not found, the provisional ball becomes the ball in play and you are now hitting 4. You must announce it is a provisional ball. If you don’t, it automatically becomes the ball in play. Once you hit a provisional ball, the option to bring it out to the fairway is no longer available to you. You may not use this option when the ball is known or virtually certain to have come to rest in a penalty area. (see rule 17c1)
